Sarah Tranum is the founder of TrickleUp Design. She is a social innovation designer and strategist. Her goal is to use design and strategy as tools for creating positive social change, whether it's in her own neighbourhood or on the other side of the globe. Sarah received a Master of Design in Designed Objects degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her undergraduate degree in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University. She worked as a microfinance practitioner in the U.S. and Canada assisting new and existing businesses in business planning and obtaining access to capital. Sarah completed the Institute without Boundaries program in Interdisciplinary Design Strategy, where she worked with a multidisciplinary team of designers to rethink the future of global housing design. She has lived and worked on both sides of the border and now calls Toronto, home.

Sarah is also an Associate Professor, Social Innovation Design, in the Faculty of Design at OCAD University. She developed and has led the Design Abroad course since its inception in 2013. Sarah created a popular online course, called Creative Practice: Preparing for a Changing World, co-authored the Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Minor, and developed the Social Innovation Design Pathway of courses. Sarah has created and taught several courses across the Faculty of Design that focus on guiding undergraduate and graduate students as they imagine and develop innovative and sustainable models for using design as a tool for social change and intentionally engaging communities in the participatory design process.

In addition to Sarah, TrickleUp Design pulls from of a pool of talented independent multi-disciplinary designers and thinkers. From industrial designers, graphic designers, environmental designers, and multi-media designers to illustrators, artists, MBAs, engineers, programmers and writers. Depending on the project, the team will consist of the ideal balance of skills and talent to get the most innovative results.
